At this stage of development, children learn by doing. For that reason, the majority of the day's activities are free play.
A relaxed environment and an extensive variety of toys lets each child to develop their new-found independence. They often choose to play by themselves or with a teacher, and as the year goes on, they interact with other children more and more.
We expose the children to fun and educational activities including musical instruments, music and dancing, stories, puzzles, Playdough, blocks, Lego bricks, cars, dolls and stuffed animals, balls, simple arts and crafts, indoor walks, and outside play.
For many children, this is their first experience away from mom and dad. The beginning can be a little tough on both the children and parents. But it really doesn’t take long for the kids to settle into the routine. We’ve learned that open communication is key to a smooth transition into daycare.
Your child’s activities, feeding and changing schedules, sleeping patterns, and pictures/videos are put into LifeCubby, the centralized platform we use to help parents document their child’s overall development and track along with their days at The Sonshine Center.
Monthly calendars outline our weekly themes and special activities.

Daily Reports
Our teachers will be using LifeCubby throughout the day to track your child’s daily activities. LifeCubby celebrates early learning, and connects life chapters for parents by giving them a free account that can be kept forever! Pictures and videos will be taken to share with you. You can also invite family and close friends to be “Cubby Pals” so they can see how your child is growing and thriving here at the Sonshine Center. With LifeCubby, you will be able to access your account online, as well as with the LifeCubby Parent App which you can download for free to your Apple or Android phone. The system is installed in each classroom so you can see the daily reports, activity documentation (including photos/videos), and assessments not only from your phone but also when you are in the classroom. Please print a copy of our monthly calendars as this gives information on weekly themes, activities and special days planned in the class, as well as helping you to prepare your child for class.

What a wonderful time our family had last night at the "Christmas Program." My family and I have been blessed by the ministry of the Sonshine Center and the Preschool teachers. The teachers have such a dedication to their classrooms and to seeing that each child performs to the best of his or her ability. We have had such wonderful crafts completed in the classrooms that we will keep forever. Both of my boys were so grieved to leave the teachers when they were too old to stay. The preschool staff are treasures and we are grateful that they were there to bless our children!
